- OUR SERVICES -

"I don't tear down. I prefer to build up."

-Andre Leon Talley

Positive Behavior Support

S.T.E.P.S. provides positive behavior support services by utilizing Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and Person-Centered Practices (PCP).

BCBAs observe and spend time with each participant to develop individualized functional behavior assessment plans to improve behaviors that interfere with daily living, relationships, and job opportunities. Over time, replacement strategies are learned which leads to increased independence, improved community involvement and employment relationships.

Job Readiness

Entering the work field can elicit a mix of emotions; from excitement to fear. At S.T.E.P.S. we offer training in job readiness to decrease the anxiety that comes along with employment. We focus on workplace relationships, employer expectations, receiving feedback, volunteering, job searching, appropriate attire, time management, resume writing and more.

We aim to match people’s interests and abilities with volunteer / employment opportunities in a range of organizations and skillsets.

S.T.E.P.S. is always looking to increase our partnership with organizations so we may have a variety of volunteer opportunities.

Community Integration

To take advantage of opportunities we must get outside and become a part of our community.  Historically individuals with disabilities tend to avoid interacting in typical community settings with “non disabled” individuals. This severely limits and impacts their lives in a number of different ways.  S.T.E.P.S. is a 100% community-based program that strives to increase positive contributions of all people within their communities.

Community Involvement will result in:

  • A choice of where and with whom they live
  • The ability to see friends and family more often
  • The opportunity to work
  • The opportunity to develop new hobbies
  • The opportunity to participate in the life of the community by going to the library, restaurants, concerts and other public venues.
